Moms on a Mission: Creating Generational Health and Wealth

In this week’s podcast episode, the phenomenal Precious K. Williams, Health and Wellness Coach for Moms, joins us.

While incredibly rewarding, motherhood often makes us lose sight of ourselves in the whirlwind of caring for our children. In this blog post, I want to share a journey of rediscovering myself, finding my oxygen mask, and the crucial role a coach like Precious K. Williams, a Mommy Wellness Coach, could have played.

Losing Myself in Motherhood

I always knew I wanted to be a mom, so when my husband and I got married in 2012, the first thing on my agenda was to have a baby. We didn’t have any trouble conceiving, and I gave birth to my daughter in June 2013, three months earlier than my due date. Being a new preemie mom presented me with so many challenges that I unintentionally became consumed by the tiny human I brought into the world. In 2016, we welcomed our first son, and as a mom of two, I no longer recognized myself. Everything I did was for them, and I didn’t just put myself on the back burner; I took myself off the stove!

One day, my kids and I were at a playground with a mom group I connected with when one of the moms said, “My kids are my life.” Her words ricocheted into my soul because while I love my kids with all my heart, I know they cannot be my life. I wanted and needed an identity outside of being their parent. The mom who spoke the words has no idea the impact she had on me, but they changed my life forever.

The Power of Prioritizing Myself

I remember looking in the mirror shortly after that day at the playground and not knowing the woman looking back at me. I vowed to get to know her and take care of her. There is a song by Solange called “Cranes in the Sky” that is the most accurate representation of what my life was like at the time. Sidebar: it’s a really good song; throw it on after you read this. I began to workout, doing yoga and lifting weights.  I became even more focused on my finances and budgeted like a forensic accountant. I reconnected with my friends. I tried different hobbies (this one is still a work in progress), but I was fighting for the woman who was being neglected. I was doing things for me!

Meet Precious K. Williams

Precious K. Williams is a mom coach and motivational wellness speaker based in metropolitan Atlanta, GA. She also founded "Simply Passionate Life" (SPL), a lifestyle brand and wellness platform for moms on a mission to build generational health. Precious educates moms on how to L.I.F.T themselves first to create a ripple effect in the health of their families!

What I didn’t have and wish I did was Precious K. Williams, a Mommy Wellness coach. That would have been a game-changer! I wish I had her L.I.F.T. framework to help me explore my interests and passions and not feel guilty about putting myself first. She emphasizes putting your oxygen mask on first, a metaphor that extends beyond physical well-being to encompass every facet of our lives. She delves into the mindset shifts required to prioritize yourself and its incredible impact on your overall wellness. My mom's group friends didn’t understand the transformation I was going through, and I didn’t always have the language, so having a Coach and community of other moms who were models of wellness and not martyrs for motherhood would have made my journey easier.

The Health and Wealth Connection

When you start prioritizing yourself, you’ll witness a ripple effect touching even your financial landscape. The same mindset shifts needed for wellness, like setting boundaries and cultivating self-worth, are integral to achieving financial success. It's a journey of holistic well-being that transcends physical health and resonates deeply with financial empowerment.

Precious and I emphasize the symbiotic relationship between wellness and wealth in this week's episode. The mindset shifts required to prioritize your wellness are the same shifts essential for financial success. Precious's work isn't just about physical well-being but holistic empowerment that touches every facet of a mom's life.

Motherhood is a beautiful journey, but it's easy to get lost in the daily responsibilities of prioritizing everyone else’s needs and desires above your own until you feel lost. And if this resonates with you, this is your gentle whisper that you are worthy of taking care of yourself.

Start by listening to the full episode of the show and then connecting to the resources you need to put yourself first.
